4 eagles as far as hauling the beer from one brewery to another we do that because each brewery does not make everything they make so we take it there to be redistributed back out to the distributers

    AHHHH OK
Now that makes sense! Spanky you ever been to that sweet water brewery in Atlanta? OMG what a pain in the butt!!! Backing in off the road between two rows of parked cars then you gota try and get it in the dock. They had to move two cars just to give me the nose swing I needed. Once your in the dock there's a chain link fence about 7 feet in front of your front bumper. No room for error at that place! Wow look at that less then a month in my own truck and already a war story! Man some of them guys war stories get pretty old hey spank? Why is it every time I get to a terminal I see the same guy or couple guys there? They must really like hanging out at terminals. Not me man I wanna get in and out gotta keep them wheels spinnin know what i mean spank? I'm home til tomorrow evening the 25th so I'm a little buzzed on the MGD right now so forgive me if this doesnt make any sense people... anyways I'm taking 12 rolls of paper to lincolnton NC Due Mon. Ever been there spanky? Its a dam broker load. They didn't have any directions for me just the number to call and ask receiving for directions. #### these Miller beers go down good! Are the brewers on? well I'm gonna go check and see if the brewers are playing and maybe order a pizza wife and kids went up north to her mothers so maybe i'll be back on later talk to you all later......:biggrin_2554:

I hear you on the moving part, I for one hate sitting and doing nothing. Does it seem like freight is picking up, how many miles are you running, are you able to add most of the bonuses into your pay, do you get paid weekly or bi and on an average what kind of take home pay are you getting?

Any drivers that have been there longer and would like to answer some of these questions as well it would be appreciated.

Basically i,m wondering how realistic I am being in thinking i should clear at least 800 dollars a week.

    TIA

Freight hasn't been a problem at all as far as I can tell. People are always going to be drinking beer and using paper and thats pretty much all we haul so freight is great for us... We get paid weekly and 800 a week is a reasonable expectation. Although you will have off weeks where you don't bring home as much but then again you'll have good weeks where you bring home a thousand. As long as your willing to run that is! I don't really wanna get on hear and talk about how many miles I'm getting for obvious reasons. We also do a lot of Menards loads as well almost forgot about that. Just let them see your willing to run and don't be refusing loads. Take what they give you get it there early and hit Ready for dispatch on the quallcom and just have at it. My Dad always says you gotta make hay while the sun is shining, well the sun is shining right now so get out there get after it and make some #### hay! Just do it safely! DO NOT EVER TOUCH ANYTHING WITH YOUR TRUCK! G.O.A.L. G.O.A.L. G.O.A.L G.O.A.L.

Must be a dad thing, lol!
I have actually worked in concrete construction for 20 years(with my dad) and know all about making HAY!!

the Marines taught me never to slack and dad was a slave driver, in a nutshell i have always been a mover and age has me up earlier every day ,lol.

Thanks a lot for the encouraging words, im excited but at the same time have a million what ifs running through my head.

I think as the recession bottoms out and begins to recover , we will do even better, as its my opinion that now is a great time to get into trucking.

Either way , im excited about starting something new after making hay in the same spot for so long, hope to hear more on bonuses, pay and uloading ,idle, fuel, do they have showers at the terminals and other stuff like that , that seems to be overlooked.
GET OUT AND LOOK is the understatement of driving!

    August 24th here i come

i have never been to that brewery in atlanta but i have heard about it from other drivers before sounds like a great time to me haha. as far as seeing the same people at the terminals all the time well some people just like to hang out and bs all the time but they are also the ones that are complaining about miles all the time. as far as you load to nc i dont believe i have been there before.

we do have showers at all the terminals but some are better than others and you will figure out which ones you like and dont like. on average my fuel bonus is around a 100 dollars a month and your mileage bonus will very depending on how many miles you get a week.

    jdsgungho Thanks this.

Thanks spanky, i also wondered how often would you be at or near a terminal to take advantage of a shower (or does it vary) and do they also have exercise equipment (or are you not at the terminals that often)?

Are all bonuses paid monthly or just fuel, i read there was a yearly safety bonus as well, is that a lump sum at the end of the year?

What other ways are there to make extra money and how often do those opportunities present themselves?

I know im not going to get rich by any means, and would be happy to make between 40-50,000/yr for my efforts, and am willing to make the necessary sacrifices to prove myself as a reliable and responsible driver over time.

I just want to look at this as realistically as possible, im sure as freight picks up steam , the opportunities will get even better going forward.

I think being in the chicago area and close to every major interstate, there should be plenty of potential for some good runs, i hope to take hometime every 21 days.

If there are any other perks or little creature comforts, or even something you or others find as a MUST HAVE, i WOULD APPRECIATE HEARING ANY AND ALL ADVICE .

Thanks again and be safe out there team millis!
