    Hey guys.

I finished my CDL mill type school today and got my Class A license. Since I already had talked to the recruiter (Kris Keplar) before and Swift seems the best fit for me I set was able to get in the class for the 18th. I start in New Boston, MI at 6:30am. I think other than downshifting (hey, I can learn to float now, right? :) ) the early hours are going to be the worst. I am not a morning person. :)

But anyway, I got a list of stuff to bring for going out with a mentor. Sleeping bag, pillow, towel, 6-8 days of clothes, hygiene stuff. Anything else I should bring like a laptop computer. Or are there things people bring they should not? Like a laptop? :)

Sounds like all I'd take initially. A lot depends on your trainer, some are "neat" and keep only the essentials and would have room for more than the basics, but many trainers will leave the trainee with barely a small cubby hole to put his/her stuff in. If you have a smart phone to check/reply to email and such, I'd leave the laptop just to be safe. I know I'd hate to not have a laptop for a long period of time. Hopefully you can communicate with the mentor beforehand to get a feel for what is tolerable.

Good luck and best wishes. And you'll need to find a way to become an early morning person pretty quick in this trade. (or at least get up and moving by yourself)

Listen carefully to what the instructors and others in the know say about service to or near the Westside of the state, especially activity on or near I-96 in Grand Rapids! :)

Not a morning person? It wont matter when u get out there. You'll see what I mean. You will be sleep deprived and when you do have time to sleep, your body may fight it because your inner clock says what heck? Then you will find yourself sort of sleeping during the day and then dead sleeping at night while sitting because you were missing good sleep trying to get the load there. When it's time to go, it's times to go! Run like hell or sit like a turnip. New Boston is one of my favorite terminals. Nice folks and order lasagna from de'angelos it is killer. Good luck!

If you turn right out of the yard, and go a little way down the dirt road, you may see a bison and an ostrich. Also, the garden place has peacocks running around. I've seen them many times while jogging in the mornings. Kinda like a mini zoo...
