Well, been here a week at Roehl and having fun. Yes I drove before but had to take the whole class over again. Dale is my Instructor, he's fantastic and laid back. I wish I could have taken the 8 day class i'll be running the dry box, Skyviper I'm sure we'll cross each other some time. Hey if any of you show up here in Marshfield it be nice to say hello in person. I'll be here until Nov 2 or until my over the road trainer picks me up.

Might be getting up to Marshfield within that time frame there. If I do I'll post here or if you see me rolling around don't be afraid to come up and say hey.

Dale is an awesome instructor if you like being able to learn and not getting barked at for every little thing you do wrong....if you make a mistake that could be a safety issue he will let you know...otherwise he will let you drive and get the hang of things. You may have to ask for input from him on things you can improve on, but I enjoyed my time learning from Dale.

Just a quick question. What are your fixed expenses? I'm looking to compare what I paid when I leased. Truck insurance? (Mine mine was about $40 per week.) Cargo insurance? (Mine was about $27 per week.) Do you pay for Qualcomm? (I paid about $15 per week.) I had a bunch of other little BS things I paid that were fixed costs. I don't think they were more than $100 though. My truck payment was $529 for a NEW 2006 FL Century Class. Thanks in advance for your help. I'm just looking to compare what I was into compared to what you are into. Thanks Again!

    13 speed eaton fuller
    Headache rack
    Side step box
    Added APU

    Down payment: $987
    Weekly $426
    Insurance (everything): $67 week
    Maint escrow: .6c/mile
2 escrows: $150/week (They fall off after building up both to 2k)

ATBS (Accounting): $16.75 (might be more or alittle less but it's not very $$)
    Flatbed Equipment lease: $18/week
    Qualcomm: $5.00/week
    Qualcomm insurance: $2.31/week

So your looking close to $700 a week for my truck. Once those two escrows fall off I will get $150 added back into my pocket. Might seem abit steep but I went ahead and took the plunge. There are alot of little things though Roehl won't tell you til your sitting down signing that paperwork. If you want more information Sky, I have no problem providing more in PM's. What is above is basically what I pay for a week.

After I drove for Covenant,JB Hunt,Schneide and Cr Englad, To me Roehl is agreat company I don't know about flatbed but van division has a lot of freights to haul. Yes we do got prepas/ezpass. ez pass only good for east coast and I 80 E from illinois to the east side region. Ez-pass no good in fl,ks,houston tx,ok and all the west coast. For student I don't how much is your pay per week. But if you want to make more become an owner op after six month if you are healthy and don't need medical insurance. For roehl to keep you busy you must be on time,no log violation and no incident

Ahhh...health insurance. There's the rub... of trying to truly work for yourself, isn't it?

Silly me, I forgot...Obama is taking care of that sticky little issue!

    Sliding scale.

Run I'm under now pays 1.02/mile.

Let me open my pay plan

    VAN NATIONAL:
    1-600 $.97
    601-1,200 $.93
    1,201-2,000 $.90
    2,001+ $.88
    EMPTY $.86

    Flatbed NATIONAL:
    1-400 $1.04
    401-800 $1.02
    801-1,200 $.99
    1,201-2,000 $.95
    2,001+ $.94
    EMPTY $.86

Flatbed you essentially make more money, but you also work more and potentially make less miles. On top of the risk, if you have a load shift and it was 100% your fault well your deductible is $2,000. UNLESS DEEMED TO BE SHIPPERS FAULT. Which ROEHL makes that decision.

    -LLL- Thanks this.

Was just reading on the "Stay-away" thread that the fuel surcharge (FSC) was $.50 per mile loaded and $.40 empty. So are those numbers added to your base mileage pay above?
