Trimac Transportation has a division that runs coast to coast. Some drivers in that division make well over $100K.

This info is probably useless to you, but think Alaska.
It is possible to run 100,000 during the short dirt season. There are some drivers that I know that live inTexas and just come up for 5 months a year.
If you want to join the union, winter and the slope is where the money is, live in camp and bank your check, nowhere to spend it, and the union always seems to be short handed in the winter.
There is always an option to haul hot oil during the summer months, which I considered gravy trucking, but you do have to pull long doubles, not the baby ones like most of the lower 48. That is also a union job and hard to get in, but once in it is great folks to work with. Some of their drivers also lives down south and just comes up and lives in a camper on their property.

Kind of hard to get your foot in the door, but for drivers, the money is there.

Indian River Transport has some nice trucks. Who pays more them or Trimac?

My dream property is as far outside of town that I can get and still run power but not close enough to see my neighbors. Where do you look for jobs? Any particular web site or paper. How did you get in?

Friend of mine did the "rent to own" and happy with it. He couldn't get financed anywhere due to rough credit caused by too many divorces/alimony/etc. He said it's works ok for people with not much cash or low credit score.

I drive for IRT. We have a mostly drop and hook consignee in Hyrum near Logan. Loads come from Turlock, California. Easy hometime solution for you . The only downside would be chaining up to cross Donner summit.

    Trimac is looking good.

I've never hauled freight before but tankers I do know. Simple work all you have to do is double check what you just checked before opening any valve.
