Hello, I am going to get into trucking this week. I am not tied down, have no family, NO accidents or tickets, stay up nights and have driven cross country many times. I enjoy it and think this would be a great opportunity to save money. I am drug free but do take lortatab, morphine and oxy that are prescribed to me longterm from my doctor.
I have read horror stories all over the net. I need the truth. I am looking for a company to hire me and put me through school who pays well. Who do I go to without getting screwed and do you have any suggestions?
Going to start with a company and school. HELP!

Good luck with finding a job with those meds...
-
Whoa, what do you mean. Just because I am on meds with a PERFECT driving record A company won't hire me? Is that what your saying?
-
I think this must be a joke thread.
-
No It is serious. I just called a company and it is OK as long as my doctor says its ok to drive. Look I drive fine I just take meds for my knee.
-
I doubt very seriously anyone would take you while using three highly addictive medications that are controlled substances.
-
Even if I get the OK from my doctor. I am 29 in perfect health except for knee but it won't affect my driving. So, meds kick you out from a driving job even if doc says OK and I have never even had a ticket? I am being serious.
-
Ahh, I just read some things.. Well I guess I will wing off with doctors help.
-
With things the way they are with most companies, the knee alone will probably keep you out. These companies can pick who they want right now, and are doing just that. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it will be very hard, if not next to impossible, to get on with someone that will train you.

You'll need those meds the way things are now. You'll fit right in.
