Abilene out of Richmond VA has an all automatic fleet and you won't have minimum required training hours or miles. Basically, when you show your trainer you can handle the job on your own, they give you a truck.
I was in training for just shy of a month. My only experience with class A trucks when I got hired last April was during CDL school 20 years prior.
Swift would have been my second choice if Abilene didn't hire me, but I was told it was only 200hrs training, not 240.
Going to Swift orientation on Tuesday (Syracuse)

***Word to the wise; if you request an automatic for Swifts roadtest, you will be only allowed to drive auto. If you decide to test on a stick instead but fail ,you will be sent home.
The recruiter misinformed me. I wanted to test on an auto but learn on a stick, during the mentoring phase.
There was a third option & that was to go home & learn stick on my own & cone back.
I'm pissed but not going to dwell on it. I plan to stay here until I can afford my own lease or purchase. Most companies are converting to Automatic trucks now due to federal mandates.G13Tomcat Thanks this.
