You won't be going to Gym's.
If working out is your main priority...don't drive a truck. (where the hell is that 'roll-eyes' emoticon) -
You could join one of those 24 hour gym chains like Anytime Fitness. There's one near me that's beside a walmart, easy parking there.

You know with this profession it's very inconsistent and unpredictable loads dictate your hrs. There will be times you'll have to drive all day and other times all night.Highly doubt you'll find a qym close to where you take your 10 hr brk every day..Now when you take a 34 hr reset you'll have time to go to the gym or if you're at the terminal for the day. Also some companies have gyms right inside their terminal. You'll have to go to their website and see what amenities they offer.I think its great you want to stay in shape you can do that with exercise equipment sold at Walmart Then you don't have to worry about finding gym not to mention the cab fare to and from the gym back to your trk.

It's hard to do that like others said. After 5 yrs otr I couldn't take it no more. It's why I'm staying LTL linehaul. I hit the gym 3-5 days week consistently for the last 3.5 yrs. You might want to try hard to find a local gig. They are out there. Or just use that year as a splurge and rest the body up. Then hit it harder then ever after you come back to local. After 5 yrs I missed going to the gym so bad I think my motivation is a lot better now cause I don't fall off for nothing. Good luck.
pattyj Thanks this. -
There are places like any time fitness that drivers in my area go to on regular time frame. Also I know a guy who drives for fed x out of Kentucky to Indy daily bobtails to him work out shower eat then get his load and back to ky. He has been doing that for years.

anytime fitness are all over the place and are 24/7. some have room for bobtail parking, some don't. You can look into that.

gym? ask your boss to put you on nursery load out of Oregon where you have to unload. I did it once lost 5lb of sweat in one day
-
Flatbedders get more exercise climbing on and tarping loads walking around re tightening straps etc. then van guys do. That said look into books like Convict Conditioning which is about working out in a small space with little to no equipment.
-
If you like working out, find a physically demanding trucking job, like Sysco food delivery. You'll fingerprint the entire load, and if that's not enough just try unloading faster... Those guys make good money too
