I just got another call from an application I put in to Schneider. I put one in after watching videos KE5WDPT put on YouTube. Sounded like a good company to work for.
The guy I spoke with said I would be bussed down to Fontana CA for 18 days of training. 5 days refresher course, 8 days with a trainer doing all of the driving, and 5 days back at the training area for Qualcom training. Earning $80 per day if I understood him correctly. I would also get to use a simulator to learn on so I don't break any cars while learning to haul a 53' trailer. After that I would get the choice of going out solo with my own truck or switching with 4 drivers/1 truck driving 21 days then home 7. After training I would start with .28cpm then at 3 months I would get a raise to .29 cpm then at 6 months I would go to .31 cpm. and at 1 year I would get .33 cpm.
I haven't heard anything back from TWT and these guys seem really interested in getting me started. The guy is sending me the online verification papers to get started then by tomorrow afternoon he will call again with a lot more information (he said 30-45 minute phone call) then they will get the transportation scheduled. They pay for transportation and the hotel but I have a special diet so I will have to figure out what I can eat while I'm down there.
Now my dilema. If I'm "hired" to TWT who is supposedly looking for a trainer (almost a week since I talked to them last) can I switch to Schneider or wait to see if TWT calls me back sometime this week? I'm out to work hard and earn money which I can't do sitting here waiting for phone calls.
Wow just checked my email and he's already got the form to me to get things started. I'm kind of surprised because it's only been a few minutes.![]()
Going with a company to learn but which one?
