Are you planning on driving by yourself or as a team? Contrary to what all the "pro's" on here have to say, you can lease a truck through them and be successful, its just better to do it as a team. Preferrably as a husband-wife team. Solo, although possible, its very hard to do and make money. But, there are plenty of people leasing a truck by themselves who are still at it and even on their 3rd or 4th lease truck. Some do it by being trainers and some dont. Hope this helps before all the wolves come in here and rip this thread to shreds.......

if you don't mind, what was your misdemeanor and how long ago was it? Just wondering, because there are tons and tons of posts on this forum from newbies who say that a misdemeanor, or ticket or whatever has been keeping anyone from hiring them. i am happy that you got a job. the company doesn't have the best reputation, but just stick it out for the duration of your contract and you will be fine. Good luck to you.

When you first read material about there lease as a newb you are like WOW a big brand new shinny truck, and I can really get that. Then hopefully you come across a site like this one and you start reading, then 4 days later still reading about what a rip off it is. What blows my mind is that you are paying all this money to use there truck ( key word use) and you are not able to drive it anywhere you are not directed to..:biggrin_25521: I do thank this board, as I was new big truck star struck.. Damit I wanted a big red shinny truck:biggrin_25523:

They didnt force the lease on us.......

We used to be against leasing but we reopened the "kicking around the idea" thoughts once the time was up on the company truck we were driving. We were told that it was gonna take like 2 weeks to get another truck and since we didnt want to be lost in limbo at the SLC yard for that amount of time waitin on a truck, we broke-down and signed a lease. So far, so good. Been at it now for almost 9 months and goin strong.

As far as us being told to wait on a new company truck being "part of the scam", maybe it was, maybe it wasnt. I'll leave that possibility on hold untill I hear from other people that were supposedly forced into leasing. To my knowledge, they cant force you to do anything. If you wanna drive company, then you drive company. They may make you wait for a truck or a team-mate or both, but they wont tell you to lease a truck. They also may tell you some of the advantages of leasing over company, but again, I highly doubt that they will try to get you to sign a lease.

Its a little more than that. If "big shiny new truck" is the only thing on your mind, then you shouldnt be leasing......
    What a totally repugnant comment.
I'll admit, the cost of the truck per week is steep, but there are some who charge more than that.

We dont have restrictions on where we drive the truck. Thats one of the nice things about leasing is because its the company trucks that you cant just drive anywhere.

I like this board, but when it comes to discussions like this, I tend not to thank the board.....

I have a misdemeaner and Central signed me up for their school next week. My misdemeaner is almost 20 years old. Just a thought. It doesnt hurt to ask them and be up front with them. They will definately tell you if you cant be hired.

As far as CR England goes.. take this with a grain of salt because I dont work for them. I am only going by what others have recenetly said on this board while I was doing research. I have heard that as of late ... when you finish training they give you 2 choices... lease a truck or drive team. How true that is I dont know, like I said I dont work for them. I can say that I did some math and if you plan to go solo youll be lucky not to starve in a lease. Driving teams while leasing seems to be the only way to make it work.

Not trying to discourage you or even put the company down. Just saying there may be other options for you and it dosnt hurt to call and ask.

my misdemeanor is malicious destruction of private property. i was charged on 11/08. i am going to run as a company driver. i have no plan to lease, as i dont wanna get in over my head. i have read some people go to training and then after caint find a truck. if that happens i am still coming home with a cdl and my head held high in search of a job. i always try to have a good attitude.

Just remember that if they have no truck for you that you still have to pay them the 3 grand for the schooling.
