My hubby just signed up with SWIFT and I have never been in a truck. I am leaving with him on Thursday for my very first time! I'm a little concerned because I am very athletic, a personal trainer, lift weights everyday and spend time hiking and riding my mountain bike. I also eat very clean. I'm bringing with me some weights and my mountain bike. a coleman stove to cook my chicken breast and turkey breasts and want to stay healthy on the road. I also plan on hitting every gym I see! Any adivse would be appreciated!![]()

You aren't going to have time to hit much of anything unless there is a gym at the truck stop. Most of the time you will be parked pretty far from civilization as they do not want trucks in their neighborhoods.
Chances are you are going to be very bored if you are used to an active lifestyle.lil may and Diesel Dave Thank this. -
IF you have time - and time means not earning $$ by having the wheels rolling - then the bikes would be OK depending on where you park the truck. Some truck stops are in 'not so nice' areas and the 'rest stops' are along the freeway... Of course you can go a round and a round those, but watch out for cars/trucks... some reststops have grassy areas, but then the dogs like those so I would suggest not using those too much... MMmm... in the cab itself, there are the weights... but careful how much your bring because of room/weight issues. I found an excersise band helps - its light weight and doesn't take up much room... and you can get real creative with it - but then you have too because again with the room issue.... so it will be a challenge, but one you can over come. I have been cooking in the truck (team w/my husband) and use the Burton Oven/crock pot/microwave (we have an inverter).. the butane stove I couldn't use because we are in motion when I'm cooking usually - I wouldn't trust that it wouldn't tip over. Although we do have a small propane BBQ for those times that we have time

Best of Luck but you will not have much time to do the things you are use to doing

In case you people didn't notice, he is going to work for
swift. She will have plenty of time to ride her bike while he waits for a door at the warehouses and a lumper to unload his load of toilet paper and other cheap freight.Diesel Dave, dirtyjerz and lil may Thank this. -
Thank you very much to all of you for your encouragement! My hubby is very understanding and said he will take me to the gym every chance he can. He has already been researching which gyms are close to freeways.

That's so cool that he is already getting ready for you to be on the truck with him. I hope that you have as much fun as I did when I went with my husband. There were times of disappointment, but totally out of his control. But we still would make the most of the time together.
Will you have Internet on the road? That helps considerably. I used to go into the joke section and read the jokes to my husband. LOL We'd have a blast passing the time going down the road doing that.
Just look at is as an adventure. That's what I did, and I enjoyed it very much!!314Partners and sweezly1 Thank this. -
You can get plenty of time to workout since you don't have to sleep while the truck is sitting. You can sleep whenever you want since you're not a driver. Might not be at a gym but you can run or ride your bike while he is down for a 10.

Now I do know there is a gym starting that is catering to truckers with truck parking and some locations at/near pilots. Can't remember the name of it, heard about it on the radio.314Partners Thanks this.
