I'm just wondering if anyone has any horror stories about finance companies here in Canada.
Recently, I just sold my Western Star and it was financed thru Daimler Truck Financial a division of
Mercedes Benz Credit in Mississauga, Ontario.
They do the financing for Freightliner, Western Star and Thomas Built.
I personally want to warn all of you, to stay away from this company.
Now I deal with Element Financial and Paccar. I'm hoping and keeping my fingers crossed
for a better relationship than DTF.
When you call in to the call center to DTF, its a different agent that seems to be assigned to you almost
every other month, and therefore - if you had some kind of an arrangement with the previous agent assigned to you,
you would have to re-explain the situation to the new agent.
Recently, I sold my Western Star and had a small payout i sent them. The account was overpaid, and a month after - I'm still
waiting for what they owe me. If they had given me the payout correctly in the first place .... grrrrr!!!!

WS financed through Mercedes and never had a problem with them. After my accident I asked what the final pay out would be and they faxed the breakdown to me and after payment they sent me a letter of release and that was that.
Not sure you can blame the company, but sure can blame the person you talked to. -
You're probably correct.
I'm venting - but felt that it would be good to hear peoples stories both good and bad with some finance companies.
I hope you recovered from your accident nicely.

Volvo on the other hand, although the guy I was working with from there tried every trick in the book( so he says),their policy's suck. No matter what the reason, like the truck was a lemon, they wouldn't budge on the financing terms. Never go through Volvo Canada financing.

I've got a 2013 Pete that I'm financing thru Element, and another 2014 coming financed thru Paccar.
Element was really creative with their financing - and really negotible on rates and/or terms.
I'm hoping this will be a good relationship as I've got some dreams i'd like to see come true when it comes to my business.
But I'll tell ya a story about Daimler. When I first got my Western Star, you know how you can delay paying the GST for 4 months thus giving a
customer time to get it back from the government first? Well, my refund wasn't back yet - and I did the responsible thing and called up Daimler
to ask for a 2 week extention as I heard from GST office that cheque was mailed out.
The guy says "no problem". I say - this wont hurt my internal score? And he replies no.
Fast forward to this year when I go to finance a truck, and they actually reported not to a bureau, but to Paccar when they called Daimler
if my payments were good - they reported that I had a late... going back to the GST thing 2 years prior.
God! I was furious!
I've heard that Volvo was "sticky" with things. Were you dealing with a guy named Murray for financing out of S'toon by chance? -
No. Bought the Volvo from beaver (idiots) Volvo in wpg. And my sterling from western sterling in Edmonton. Both were financed out of the offices in Mississauga.
-
Must be Winnipeg then!!! Lol!! I bought my Pete from Wpg!!
i haven't much respect for them. However, I will tell u the finance guy there wwill work
hard to get the deal done.
