I've been driving a truck now for almost a year and after I get my one year experience I was going to look for another job that pays better. is there any certain companies that stick out to be better to work four after you obtain your one year? I'm moving to Florida near Orlando and cocoa beach area. Thanks

Look at tanker (food grade) companies. Living in Florida and trucking does'nt mix well. I say this because I live in Pensacola, Fl. When I deliver
in Florida 90 percent of time I dead head back home and reload in Mobile, Al. I pull a flat bed. Reefer trailers are seasonal. But tankers seem to stay busy. good luck

Many good companies to choose from; if you have all the endorsements you can make $55K-$60K+ :

    Trimac Transportation
    CTL Transportation (OTR)
    Airgas
    SVTN
    Superior Carriers
    Tidewter Transit
    Schneider Bulk
    Heyl Truck Lines
    Blue Line Food Service
    Florida Beauty Flora Transportation
    McKesson Corporation
    Windy Hill Transportation
    Indian River Transport
    Oakley Transport Inc.

There's a few & the best pay with less work will be with hazmat/tanker.

We have a good amount of solo drivers and a slew of husband/wife teams out of Florida. Abilene Motor Express. Dry van/ reefer, no touch, no hazmat needed. I averaged over 3200 mi per week for 2013 and was home 2 days for every 2 weeks out...on E-logs...Plus a 2014 Volvo780. Low end is .33 mile, but experience will get a higher starting rate. Any miles above VA/Md border is an extra.10/mi.

We drive cascadias and Volvos, some trucks have apus, most dont i have one. We use peoplenet and bluetree logs, our current trucks are all stick but rumor has it the new ones are going to be automatic. Ryders are @ $250 for the whole year. You'll start @ .37 cpm with the potential of .01 per mpg, idle and performance so technically .40 cpm wich will be paid quarterly. If you apply let them know truck 84 sent ya and keep me updated, also if you hav anymore questions let me know
