Good company near SLC for driver with 6 months experience?

If you want dedicated, Swift has a dedicated account with the Walmart DC in Corrine, just North of SLC. You might want to check into it. Dedicated account drivers at Swift tend to get paid a higher rate. I have a friend with 2 years experience who just started driving for Swift on a different dedicated account and he's getting 60 cpm. Working dedicated out of Corrine will probably keep you in the general area where you'd get to be home most nights.

 

There are better to work and drive for than their reputation suggests!!!

 

There are worse companies to drive for! Their Dedicated accounts can be a pretty good choice. Wouldn't hurt to look into it.

 

I'm personally not interested in dedicated. I like the randomness of OTR. I like not knowing where my next load is going. I like the lack of routine OTR usually is. Prior to driving a truck I was stuck in routine for way too many years.
My only 'condition' is that I don't want to go to the Southeast. So, to accommodate that, they keep me in the West. Farthest East I generally go is Denver. My heart is in the Western US. Just so much beauty and majestic scenery to traipse through. But, a few load planners who know me will sometimes give me a load back East, but distinctly North of the Mason-Dixon line. Usually places in Wisconsin or Minnesota.

Flying j and loves are always looking for gas and oil haulers. Dino is another one.
Plenty of regional flatbed companies home weekly.
100s of locals hauling dirt locally.
Waste management and others hauling garbage to recyclers.

 

I’d try Barney trucking or Tuff transport.

 

Pride wasn't bad back when I was there but that was over a decade ago. Pretty sure they have dedicated stuff still. They have a local fleet too which might work out for you.
