Im still looking to start myself but here is how it works
Most companies pay .xx cents per miles clocked, that in turn is split by the 2 drivers,
Lets say .40 cents per mile Split.. Your pay would be .20 x(all miles run by both drivers)
One company splits the miles instead of the cents like this
.xxcpm X 1/2 all miles driven = pay
Some others might only pay you by miles you personally drive
.xxcpm X Miles you clocked that week = Pay
Unless your Teaming with family its better to run solo than to run team given the extra headach of sleeping in the truck while moving for very little extra income
I may be wrong but thats how I take it -
Check out Kennesaw Freight out of Atlanta, Ga. They run a lot of Ca and back, Nice equipment and home time (team). Team pay is like this......If the truck makes 42 cents per mile, the team drivers split that amount. Each driver gets 21 cents for all miles. So, for example, you run Atlanta-Fresno, approximately 2300 miles. The truck makes $966 and is split between the 2 drivers. Then you turn that beast around and run back to Atlanta and make another $966 to the truck, split. The advantage to team driving is that truck can run 24/7 without having to stop for 10 hour breaks. Now some companies may not due a 50/50 split if one driver is a newbie, they may do a 54/46 because of seniority etc.

Con-way truckload pays around the same as most others it seems. The .40 cent a mile split range. Then there is a bonus for running over 20,000 miles a month. And a quarterly safety bonus. They have Pike Pass, Ez-pass, Pre-pass, Xm/sirus radio. Reimburse for showers. Teams typically are assigned to T-2000, T-660 Studio Sleeper, or Cascadias. They are actively recruiting teams, but must have or be able to obtain hazmat endorsement and be willing to run and enter Canada.
