    Good Evening Everyone,

I hope this is not a ridiculous post but here goes!

I am in the military and being re-stationed from Bath, Maine to Norfolk, Virginia and I will be driving a 17' Uhaul and I believe the height of the Uhaul is 10' (not 100% on the height) not a problem have driven a few before and have driven an ambulance for a while. Now my question is could anyone here map me a route I should take so I do not have any problems with the overpasses especially around the Norfolk area. I have never been there except for a two days and didn't have much time to map a route. I am not worried about time it takes just to get there safely. If you want you can PM me and I can give you my starting point address and ending address. I know there are signs but I would like a advice from a pro and someone with some experience! Thanks for any help that is offered Ladies and Gents!

    Patrick

You won't have any problems with a U-Haul van as far as heights go, BUT, watch out for fast food drive throughs/Apt buildings overhangs/tree limbs overhanging/low slung signs etc. Hwy overpasses are not a problem. Also, don't try to enter a sub parking structure.

I-95 south to I-295 south in Richmond VA to I-64 east to Norfolk. You will have no problem with bridges anywhere and you are low enough to go through the tunnels in Norfolk.

    Baack Thanks this.

add gas stations to allowme's list. also remember to stay right at toll booths so you can pay more for the extra axles.

do you need more help with the route, or are you looking for the fastest way which is what bubbamark laid out?

Now with the route tha bubba mark laid out I don't have to worry about having to jump off I-95 or I-295 and getting stuck on any roads that don't allow trucks correct, cause I mean when the signs say no trucks they mean Uhaul trucks as well correct?

no you won't have to worry about getting on and off for no trucks, if there are any restricted routes that cross 95, there will be signs at the ramp, but they will be for tractor trailers, or they will have a weight limit posted. for you, i would imagine 5 tons or less. anything over that and you should be good.

the route that bubbamark is the easiest and probably fastest. not the shortest or least congested. be careful taking the beltways around baltimore and dc, they can get hairy during commuter time. always go east around them, it's shorter.

a less mileage, more scenic route would be to cross the delaware memorial bridge and then jump onto 1S/13 down through delaware and maryland. cross the chesapeake bay bridge and into hampton, then norfolk. that way is 702 miles vs. 95/295 at @768

If you go the Delaware route (which I recommend to avoid Washington DC area traffic) Take 113 S. from Dover to Pokomoke, Md after you get off of Rt. 1 (less traffic lights and its 60mph once you get into Md).
