Probably 10% or less. The programs are completely filled with people who have no business sense whatsoever. Many of them couldn't run a successful lemonade stand in their front yard, much less their own trucking business. Most drivers who do have business sense are smart enough and have the means to buy their own truck. A handful of drivers have enough business sense but due to circumstances they couldn't control, lack the means. Lease purchase programs are filled with people from the first group and have few from the last.

I am in a lease purchase program that works for me at ACT. There are many here that fail too. It's not foolproof and isn't easy. One day, I will outright own a truck. It may be my current truck, or it may be one I buy with the money I save while doing this. It's a means to an end.

Schneider has one.....a friend of mine has been there 2 years and is loving it. With them you are buying the truck and you have a choice of dispatched miles or choosing your own loads off a board and route yourself too where ever you want too go and what makes a better business since for you. He runs under there authority, pays low for various things like ins and such. He goes home when he wants and runs where he wants and stays home as long as he wants. Plus if he chooses to go to LandStar, which he checked into, he can and take his truck. The will send him the payment coupon book so he can mail or transfer his payments too them like a regular bank. He makes well and he got a new truck through them.
Like the one of the post says...........you have too check and see what risk are you willing to take and what your future plans are.

I'd like to know how many drivers speaking against lease programs have experienced all the bad they speak of first hand.

Why when there are better programs at better companies. Most of the failings I've seen people complain about are things that could have/should have been planned for. I'm going into a LP program with a LLC and a CPA approved business plan based on potential earnings. Lanes are dedicated, mileage from one week to the next is predictable. Tell me why I am doomed to failure just because you've heard from someone who heard from someone who heard from someone who's cousin fell flat on a LP?

The only thing I can glean from this entire thread is "Don't lease-purchase truck driver, you're too dumb for business."

    azcardnlz Thanks this.

Since you sound like a doubting thomas, I highly suggest you sign a lease purchase with one of the fine companies offering them , & then document the wonderful time & big money you are making while participating in the program , maybe you will be one of the high % of people who actually complete a lease purchase !
