good morning. let me give a little background i been hauling garbage for a while now yesterday was my last day as a garbage hauler. i had sold my equipment. so here the situation i bought a 2016 w900 and a 2017 wabash reefer trailer. tomorrow i would be booking my first load i set up with DAT. im not asking what lanes too run or where too cause at the end of the day i need too learn the business. here is the question what is the minimum i should book a load. i dont wanna be a cheap hauler and mess up business as other said is bad already. i was doing research and got some ideas. if im correct minimum should be no less then 1.60 a mile and anything above 2.00 is good . any info would be great and again im not asking what lanes i should run.
good morning my journey starts tomorrow

Reefer should be 2.50 or better, +fsc
rulonwaholla Thanks this. -
Don't look at the miles, book by days. With reefer you should try to gross daily $1200 and up on as few miles as possible. So it can be 500 miles for $1200, or 50 miles for a $1000 (pretty much the same amount minus fuel for driving).
Or you can take $4 mile load to Northeast and come back at $1 per mile. As long as you average your weekly quote, you are all good and it does not matter how you did it.
Also, if the load pays good money, but has weird appointment times, you might be getting good rate per mile, but it doesn't do you any good if the load required to sit on it for 3 daysrulonwaholla and pattyj Thank this. -
