Good Night From II

I live in Georgia I got $20 a day but the company I work pays what a vacation day pays every day I’ve got jury duty.

 

glad i was off yesterday.
high winds.
i heard of 5 trucks blown over.
terminal manager closed the outbound gate to all trucks.
nor sure when it reopened.

 

Too many people simply refuse to respect the wind.

 

I just watched that 'on time' video for this months bonus.

Aside from kind of being all over the map, it seemed all three of the speakers really tried to avoid any eye contact with the camera, or us.
They looked at each other or off in the distance, but never once did it seem like they were speaking directly to me.

And with the factors that effect being on time, none of them mentioned the actual scheduling between the sales people and the customer.
You know, when there simply is not enough time given for the driver to do the load in a timely fashion from the outset.
Or that planners often send us loads at the very last second with no time to spare, when we have been sitting for hours waiting for a load and would have had plenty of time if they would just have sent it a couple hours earlier.

 

Loads are pretty bad.

I t-called a load in East St. Louis yesterday at 1330. My next pplan was picking up at the Swift terminal in St. Louis and delivering today at 1700, 10 miles total miles with a live unload.
And then the pplan after that was picking up the same load I just t-called yesterday, which delivers 360 miles away in WI Tuesday morning.
And today is Friday.

My TM said to turn down that pplan, and gave me layover pay for today.

No new pplan yet, so it is up in the air again.

jurupa terminal is a parking nitemare now. everyone being creative im their parking.

one guy parked their bobtail at the end of a trailer row.
rite headlight broken on his left mirror was broke too.
had to wake one guy up to move so i could get my trailer. and had a yarddog move another trailer parked across from me so i could get out

 

When I would get down there I would always reserve a spot at the TA, just because of how that terminal gets.
That place is not safe.

 

I drove 441 miles today, with 10 hours and 41 minutes on the drive line. Only about 7 miles were not on the interstate highways.
Yup, one of those days.

But it was much worse for at least one truck driver.
The truck had been basically pancaked front to rear.
It looked like that driver had rear ended something, smashing in the whole front of the truck. The back of the cab was also smashed in.

 

Well, how about that.
Today is my 13 year anniversary with Swift.

 

nice. dont think i will beat that. been here total of 8.5 yrs counting all 3 times i got hired here
