Hate to be the negative nancy here, but in this economy, expecially in Florida don't set your sights on getting a driving job at 19. I got my CDL when I was 19 back in '03 and caught hell trying to find anything, and when I finally did find my first job I was lucky because not even 6 months later they changed their insurances to 21 and older. I had the same attitude as you, knock on doors and surely someone will give me a chance, not quite the case. I'm now 26 and work for Pritchett out of Lake Butler, have you ever thought of trying to get on with us in the shop or something, I know Mr. Pritchett has a farming type deal going on in Lake Butler, just something to get your foot in the door. Change tires, wash trucks, spot trailers, anything until you get old enough for insurances to pick you up. Keep your head up, but just know this day in age finding a driving job at 19 is going to be the fight of your life.

True story, I'm twenty and I turn twenty one here in a week, thank God. I went to school 6 months ago, a 240 hour cdl class at a local school. My dad and uncles are truck drivers, and my granpa's were both truck drivers, my one grandfather owned 19 trucks at one time. The sad truth is, even though I've got all those connections I've yet to find a job, though I've got two gauranteed job's here in spring once construction picks up. I wish you the best of luck, It's tough.
