Obviously rest stops amd truck stops are ideal, but what other places are okay to put the rig for a quick power nap?

    On/Off ramps?
    Shoulders?
    Parking Lots?

Just get to the next rest area or truck stop ... if you feel the need to sleep coming on strong don't ignore it ... for me, my body gives me more than just a few miles worth of notice before it is going to close my eyes whether or not the truck is moving ...

On/off ramps- Depends. Some states are cracking down. I know the Ohio State Patrol is having a zero tolerance attitude towards 10 hour ramp parking lately.

Shoulders: Why? Why would you ever park on a shoulder in a non-emergency, non breakdown situation? This is the USA, not Mexico. Especially to take a nap????

Parking lots: Depends. Some walmarts are still friendly, and thanks to the recession a lot of strip-malls are barren. They're also great places to get robbed and or hijacked.

Best Advice is to stick with the "normal" parking areas. Rest areas, truck stops, ect. If you can't find one? keep going. Power naps are overrated, anyhow. It takes a full 90 minuets for your body to experience one cycle of REM sleep, This is not including the time you're going to have to take to park, drain the main vein, lay down and finally; fall asleep.

Do what Abe didn't; do some jumping jacks, jog in place, call the girlfriend and have a dirty conversation about your next home time and how you have all those cucumbers getting ready to go bad- do something that keeps that heart rate up. Caffeine will not keep you alert, it will only keep you awake.

Use an on ramp if possible, cars travel faster on off ramps. Safer if they hit ya.

Most truck stops don't seem to mind if you park at the fuel pumps and nap and you don't have all percussion waves of the trucks and cars whizzing by

If you ever are in Marshall, Saline County, Missouri you can always sleep with my exwife who will sleep with anyone. Her place is where I 70 and US 65 cross. Blue house. Red van in the drive. If you are in a hurry make sure you take a number so you don't miss your place in line.
