My trainer suggests parking away from the scales and in between two rigs not being the last on the file and if at all possible on the straight line not the curve and where lights wont hit the cabin... but he also says that once you get to the truck stop you want to park as soon as soon as you can and not go wondering around for the perfect spot
-
I agree,I won't even stay at a packed trk stop for the nite even if about out of hrs,.I'll chance it and find either a restarea or another larger truckstop.Chances of trying to get out early in the morning is slim at a packed truckstop.
channelingmyself and mje Thank this. -
1. Park facing south without traffic going by your south side-better TV reception!!!
Seriously
2. When passing a wide load- go long for the pass! Go at least three truck lengths as the WL needs to see the shoulder so he can avoid any big truck that may have stopped. If you just passed a WL and there is something on the shoulder- give him a heads up on your CB
3. If a wide load is hanging way over the shoulder so he can stay in his lane- then dont go passing him where traffic is merging or on a narrow bridge. He may just stick that grader blade in your cab.
4 If a WL cuts out into your lane to block you- its not because he is on the phone or texting or an ahole- its because you were about to pass in an unsafe spot. He has those flashing lights on for a reason- be careful and aware when passing.TooGroovy Thanks this. -
Don't forget to set your parking brake!
...maybe not when you're in the hammer lane doin' 65!kerosene jockey Thanks this. -

You just stay in the Prime lane.... that is what my new trainer told me when I told him I was in the. Lane of least resistance.... and stop blocking traffic or someone is going to kick your Rse in the next truck stop and im gonna let them

The right lane is the best lane for slower trucks anyway.I set my cruise at 60 and rarely have to move out of the right lane unless I catch a Prime company driver lol.

59 still feels like warp speed to me... I wonder how I am going to drive my Camaro if I ever go home... we do get to go home... do we?
