The choices were
1)your ridiculous suggestion to throw a radio in the garbage
2)obtain service at a reputable shop.
The choice is clearAnother Canadian driver and High Stepper Thank this. -
A reputable shop wouldn't encourage you to spend $100 in labor to repair an $80 radio.
To suggest somebody throw their money away by paying $100 for a $2 tune which won't perform half as well as a factory tune, is ridiculous when it's cheaper just to buy something new that will perform two or three times better. In case you didn't know, performance is measured in miles. If you don't have the Freightliner Cascadia that transmits 74 mi, you could at least have a 30 mi Cobra 29 That costs less than 100 bucks without paying a technician to tinker with the radio.
The choice is clear.....Another Canadian driver Thanks this. -
"...performance is measured in miles..."
Incorrect. There are many other indicators of good performanceAnother Canadian driver Thanks this. -
Name one. Most of the drivers I know are more concerned about long distance bear reports and traffic reports running coast to coast, and are less preoccupied with locking down a parking lot at a truck stop. If locking down parking lots is your priority. I can tell you how to do it yourself without paying a technician to do it for you. It's always best to save your money and spend it wisely.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.

Clean audio?
BTW how's your AT6666 doing? I haven't seen you talk about it since MS removed his blessings for that model. I figure he got a better deal on another brand on Ali Baba and now the new radio is the flavor of the monthLast edited: Jan 4, 2023

All I know is I have a 40 mile range with my setup, I still talk to one driver almost on a daily basis.
BUT the more important thing is this fact, while you guys are arguing about shops and all that crap for a CB radio, I have a 5 watt home brew multimode 10 meter transceiver hooked up to 150 feet of 300 ohm feed line and a ******* lightbulb stuck on a 25 foot piece of conduit that I have made contacts and had QSOs with as far as Brazil. If I use my pos 2 watt Arduino 40 meter transceiver, using SSB, I consistently get into Europe and even had some clown in Europe who had to come here to prove it was a lightbulb.
It is a GE 1000w 130v PS52 E39 Incandescent Light Bulb, it held up pretty good with the weather we had during Christmas.

It is now called Superior CB. I just got an email from them this afternoon. It said they have a six week wait before they can even look at a radio right now. My Ranger popped and started pouring smoke out of the bottom a few days ago. I need to send it somewhere.Another Canadian driver Thanks this.
