Dude! Did you forget that you once was a rookie? I remember those days! You had a million questions and never once did anyone call you a rookie or look down on you!, Just saying man we all have to start somewhere!!
What happened at that company you were with? You talked it up and now you are jumped ship? Keep it going driver you do good work.BigSam Thanks this. -
who called anyone a rookie? he asked about the company i answered the question, and gave him a little more info so as not to waste his time calling or applying for a job he's not qualified for yet....
I only left for a local job, home everyday, weekends and holidays off, and we dont get paid per mile

It takes a while to learn heavy haul and it is a high risk driving position.
Heavy haulers make one mistake and it can cost much more than one could imagine to include injuries or death.
O/D O/S loads can wear a diver out and with the way people drive today the driver needs to know a little more than just the basics.
Most times a heavy hauler is miles from no where, if you do not secure the load properly well things can get nasty quick.
So many things to learn and not special but it takes more time than most care to put into it.American-Trucker Thanks this. -
Stay away from Mcelroy!!!!!!

Mcelroy is a crap company...... miles are nothing and they treat there employees like CRAP!!!! Dont for forget the MTL logo must tarp load.....with no tarp pay..... and oh dont even think about being late for a delivery, cause you will not be there long... Gotta call your load manager BEFORE you get on top of any load, dont and you wont be there long..... management is a joke there. not a single person knows what the other is doing.... RUN RUN far far away!!!!!

what about TMC ...?.... i heard is a good company and pay good..
-
Yes, you must call before you get on top of a load and then call when you get off of it. This is a safety issue. I've not been late with any load so I can't address that but I've had plenty of time to get there.

If you call and speak with your dispatcher then it wont be late since they will reschedule your appointment for you, no we dont get tarp pay per say, we get .40 a mile starting off but the last three weeks I am averaging .44 a mile due to Lowe's loads which pay a flat rate which has helped me out alot.
