I currently run an older Pete with a 3406E. I was looking at getting a new rig but seems like PACCAR is the only engine option. The reviews I've read haven't been all that great for the emissions etc... I know this is only an opinion but who makes a good heavy haul tractor nowadays?

I'd actually thought about getting a newer Pete and taking the engine out and stuffing this CAT in it.

That'd be the way I'd go, that or keep fixing what you got. You can do a lot of work to an older truck for the 150k a new one costs.

I'd thought about that too but that new truck smell. I'm looking at eventually around 10-15k in upgrades. This girl is pretty beat. Looks like it was hit with an ugly stick too.

Yea my kw isn't the prettiest thing on the road either but it gets the job done, it wouldn't like pulling doubles around at all though.

Get a Western Star then. Detroit’s have been fairly descent in resent years. They are a solid truck.

We run Mack Pinnacles and Anthems for this work. Seem to do well.

What are you looking for? Something light to increase payload, or something cool to cruise in? Need some more details.
