Google Maps crashing is the main problem but it seems like it has problems with the GPS before it crashes. I'm not alone.

bergy Thanks this.

I've cleared the cache and done reinstalls. There are millions of users in the U.S. but a small percentage of those use it as much as a professional driver does. If you see those product forum posts, a lot of those people didn't notice any problems until they went on a road trip.
Many more posts here.

You are understanding that Google is not taking into account any truck attributes when routing?
25(2)+2 Thanks this. -
I recommend browsing the XDA Developers forum at the link below. Some of the best software developers in the world post here and can solve any known device software issue. I usually do not read user comments from people on other sites if they are not qualified software developers or someone with a strong background in modifying the firmware on a mobile device.

I'm a regular Google Maps app user on iPhone and always install the updates. I have not seen any issues. But it prefers a solid 4G connection to work well. Maybe turn off traffic and see if that helps.
Gulf Thanks this. -
I don't know why you get the idea I'm sort of novice here. But thanks for the input. Very familiar with XDA site will check.
About Nexus, you cannot get a more pure Android experience. I bought it directly from Google. I bought the phone outright from Google. The Nexus devices are some of the only devices to have already received the latest Android update 4.4.4
But thanks for all the useful info. You still ignore the scores of people having the same problem. I am sure Google will come out with a fix at some point. -
Have you tried installing the APK for a previous version of Google maps, such as 4.2 or 4.0 on your Note 2? -
Sound like OP is having data issues. I use Google Maps extensively on my Galaxy Note 3 and Note 10.1 2014 with a Verizon connection and haven't experienced any issues.
-
But here today I have had multiple crashes on both devices. The Nexus 5 gps works fine while it is running but then crashes. The Note 2 sometimes has trouble even locking on to location and will then crash after awhile randomly not always.
So I'll have a few days off and will try some of things you suggested beyond what I've already done.
