your problem is that the note 2 is a verizon. it's never worked on mine after 12 months. verizon finally issued 4.4 kitkat and i finally got gps to work with my programs. but still no google.

i also have a sprint note2. and it's never had a problem. i use the sprint phone in the same manner as you. but only for copilot, truckgps, sygic, and a few other things. i don't really use google on it. but when i do. it has no problem functioning.

sprint is my gps tablet. UNACTIVATED. verizon is my activated phone. and the software between the 2 phones is totally different. in how they operate.

BTW. both phones are version 7.,7. and i have the play stores setting to NOT update my apps. i see no need for constant updates to any given app. every day. i have more of my internet to use for my needs also. instead of being used up for updates.

I successfully rooted the Note 2 but may have run into some trouble installing Safestrap. When I open Safestrap there is no "stock" to boot to. From the instructions, The ROM slot should be set to stock. But I go into available ROM's and "stock" is not highlighted, I can't click on it, and now I can't get back to any kind of screen to use the phone. I hope this doesn't mean it's a brick now.

Edit: I was able to get it back through Safestrap system reboot.

Never used Safestrap. But I also had my Note 2 rooted before they put out the update with KNOX. Does the method you used to root trip KNOX?

I think it bypassed Knox, I'll have to go back to my laptop and look at the instructions again. I used Saferoot.

This is the thread I followed.

It didn't set the "custom" flag on my Note 2.

The video says for Galaxy S4 but worked for me on Note 2 also.

Good to hear they got a work around on that. Tripping KNOX cannot be undone.

Lg g2 vzw kit kat plus, lg g3 vzw kit kat, nexus 4 kit kat tmo & nexus 7 lte tmo all rooted no issues with gps & or gmaps. (Yes I'm a device *****, yes I hate samsung )I personally would never use my tablet or phones for a pure navigation device. Never designed to b gps device. The only thing I'm not liking on newest map update 8.2.0 is the annoying message to enable wifi Hate that. Also have copilot standard version set up with rv specs only have that because maps are dl to my device like 1.5gb in size and it doesn't need cellular to get directions.

Well I now have the older Google maps 6.8 installed and Copilot. I get back on the road tomorrow so will see how it goes.

About truck routing, I will map a route and use an Atlas to confirm trucks are okay. But I am considering getting the truck Copilot app or a stand alone truck GPS.
