This company is selling hitch kits for semis and the placement of the Gooseneck ball is at the very rear of the semi truck. This spot looks very convenient to install, but I'm curious if it will have any weight limitations because its before the axles. Will it take weight off the steers by leveraging over the axles?

I have a truck that has a Gooseneck installed by the PO, and its mounted at the top of the frame. So I have to completely shorten the hitch tube on my trailer. If it were at the rear where the frame slopes downward, then I'd lose a few inches.

I pull a 30’ gooseneck on a ball behind the drive axle without issues. Single axle Columbia. Let me say that you need to make certain trailer brakes work because believe it or not it can get dicey trying to stop it all with just truck brakes. I also pull a pintle hitch lowboy trailer for D5 and such, and it doesn’t lever enough weight off front axle to notice.

Another thing we eventually did is to get a mast with a kingpin on the bottom, and just couple to the fifth wheel. Tried to attach a few shots of the mounts. Didn’t have a foto of the ball behind the drive for some reason. The ball mount on top of the fifth wheel we built was too tall.
