Peanut Butter, I noticed your from the Boise area. I am going to go to the Sage school in Caldwell In January. I've am waiting until the holidays are over, then school, then hopefully a job. I've been in construction for 25 years and you know how bad it is here. I was wondering if you have any prefered Co's out here you would recommend???? I realize that I am pretty much at my trainers mersy and if he or she decides they don't like me, well I'm screwed. I know now is a tough time in this business, and I really want to make the right decision about my first Company.
Money is not as important as good training and going w/ someone that really has trainers that train, not someone w/ 6 months exp. training.

Also are there any Co's in the area to visit. I've been to Cargo Express and Willis Shaw, which I also noticed some Gordon trucks. :biggrin_25511:I was underwelmed to say the leased.

I've called W/S , Gordon, Swift, May, Werner. The W/S recruiter by far the best. I've also read good things here on them.

Without talking further with any of them my short list would be, W/S [they seem very professional],Werner [watched the Dan Rather story and respect the fact that they showed up] May [I see there trucks run by here alot so may help w/ hometime] Gordon [ Meet a driver at an open house in Caldwell had good things to say]

I appreciate any info or insight you can provide. Thanks

WSE lets us use some space at their terminal in Boise. It's a pretty common practice for us. We let Navajo,KKW,and Haney use our yard in Pacific. No we haven't merged.

Liteguy, Willis Shaw would probably be your best bet, its close to home and you wont have to leave your car from from home, Cargo express i wouldnt recomend unless they are all you can get, May has been hiring out of the payette terminal lately, 5 drivers at a time, but you have to leave the truck at the terminal to go for home time. Werner and Swift, well read the horror stories in the bad company thread as well as look them up on ripoffreport.com, stay away from CR England far far away, Schnieder may be a possibility for you, but it all boils sown to what company works best for you for home time, and how hard you want to run. Cargo Express would probably run your tail off but they dont pay very well as far as cents per mile, so you wont make that great of money, the best i can tell you is to look and do plenty research on here and see what you really want when your done with school, good luck with sage and your new career.
