that's too bad. you could always go work for Bettendorf. I hear they are still wanting to hire drivers and you'd be home everyday

They want a bunch of ukiah drivers and a bunch of eureka drivers and everyone will just do turns from ukiah. They will have to change our pay scale if they do this. And as for sitting sometimes I sit for six or seven hours waiting for a load than have to haul ###, every now and then is ok cause that's trucking but it's starting to become really common.

My checks have been pretty good lately though

"Maybe I'm crazy but I would go to work for Lowrie in a second again. they treated me well and I love their trucks"

I really haven't worked as a driver for very many people so my sample is pretty small. I also think that because they're new to curtain vans they don't have their freight as together as they do for the flats & steps.

But I still couldn't handle the macho bluster culture. Everything gets dealt with via anger & profanity. I seem to get a lot more done when I stay calm and collected.

If you want to have rules, write them down, heck even put together an employee handbook telling me what they are and I'll be happy to follow them. Lowrie never gave me any rules, but every other time I'd be in the office there would be some new notice up saying something like you'd be fired for putting your own CB in the truck or for setting foot in the shop. Then when I needed something done to the truck they would tell me to go talk to so-and-so in the shop, when there's a note up saying I'll be fired for doing that.

Having to fuel at Pilot and only being able to wash at Truck Tub were major inconveniences for me.

The blow up over them insisting that I had to take a reset, that it was illegal for me to run on my recap was just the final straw. I asked them to call their BIT inspector or the Cordelia scale & ask. I printed out FAQ's from the FMCSA web site & they still made me go home for a reset. There are limits to the amount of stupidity I will allow in my life & they were over the line.

I later found out from someone else I know who was working there that they have installed GPS trackers in all the trucks. They know everything you're doing. I see a real liability issue between the existence of those records and what I would be showing on my paper log. The same person told me they were talking trash in the office about me because when I came off my reset I drove to Ontario, slept 3 hours, then delivered and went to my reload. They apparently don't understand a split sleeper berth either. I was perfectly legal, I just needed my 8 in the bunk after I reloaded, but they were talking trash about me for it.

    Totally unprofessional IMHO.

LOL...Lowrie is used to dealing with tomato truck drivers. That's got to be a miserable experience for the dispatchers. It might take their office staff a while to find out what real truck drivers need.
