What are my options
I was in Wisconsin.
Long story short I got cited for "using telephone while operating cmv. "
On the sheet it says "driver stated he was changing song "
I honestly was confused because I thought as long as you didn't look down and only needed to press one button you were fine but I guess not. Anyway. The citation orders me to pay $183 by late April. Do not have to appear in court. But it says it can add 4 points to my license.
As for the level 3 the company got cited for not having updated 2018 registration and ifta which im ironically on my way to pick up now.
I have the red 2018 ifta sticker just not the paper copy for the permit book. Cop told me as long as they give me the updated copies and fax it within 15 days it's taken care of.
Honestly I expect to get fired. So should I turn this in now and get a greyhound or should I finished my last 3 dispatches then try to get home by next week then turn it in. That way when I get fired I'll already be home and have another paycheck coming
Got a cell phone citation and level 3 inspection.

I am very sorry this has happened to you. However these 2 words are the heart of your problem, (driver stated).Hopefully you won't lose your job. Go see someone at safety and plead your case. No matter how this turns out. Really in the future you should never volunteer information like that. You have the right to stay silent. Honestly you should do that in the future.

And stay off the phone if possible. It's just not worth the risk to your job just to answer a text message. Please tell me you weren't wearing ear buds while driving?
Sirscrapntruckalot, aussiejosh and KB3MMX Thank this. -
I assume you were holding your phone? If it had been mounted on the dash your interpretation about "one button" would be correct.

With camera technology today, it's pretty easy to place a camera up high that instantly grabs a photo at the optimal time, and sends it to a nearby cop.
Cops today who are qualified to do CMV inspections are always looking for easy initial stop reasons such as a headlight out at dawn/dusk, an air line setting on the deck between the trailer and tractor, a head down looking at something (phone), 5 over the speed limit, no seatbelt, etc Gotta mind your p's and q's out here drivers because there's always some cop looking to give you a ticket and/or inspection.roshea, RedRover, bentstrider83 and 4 others Thank this. -
DO go to court; either lawyer up, or go yourself.
4 points are too many. Good luck.LoneCowboy, RedRover, Vic Firth and 4 others Thank this. -
