My instructor had a clipboard he made notes on whine we were driving and it had a stopwatch on the top , he would hold his clipboard up and block your view of the right side mirror and start the stopwatch and see how long it took the student to say something about not being able to see the mirror .

If it was more than 10 or 12 seconds thw instructor was not happy .

he would ask students “what did that last sign say ?”

“without looking , how much fuel do you have ?”

“without looking , what color is the car behind us ?”

“we just passed a mile marker , what number was on it ?”

etc etc

he was a very good instructor
And he expected you to pay attention to what was going on around you and to always ALWAYS expect the other vehicle to do something stupid and have a way to react already in mind .

It’s hard to pay attention like that for hours and hours every day , it makes you tired .

the school had a old trailer that was 96 wide and 45 long , and if he had a student that would wobble and weave
He’d take em on a county road , they’d have to learn to not wobble etc

That's the kind of guys I had when I learned to drive truck. Had 4 instructors for 8 or 10 students. 2 worked the yard teaching backing-alley dock, parallel, serpentine etc and 2 took us out on the highways..They really made you concentrate on your visuals. Now they have "trainers, most of who don't even have 4 seasons driving

That may be true in your line of work, but there are some where becoming the “go-to guy” means you’ll be the one who gets ####ed every day.

Just because you’re the Go-To Guy doesn’t mean you’re the often walked upon nice guy. Be the guy that can pull anything, go anywhere, deal with any difficulties…but they have to pay you more. They will absolutely LOATHE you for it.

Citation wthout inspection = MVR only

Inspection wiwthout citation = PSP only

Citation WITH inspection report = PSP and MVR

He didn’t know he’s not supposed to run a truck out of his lane because a car was trying to merge?
