I would caution you in choosing Watkins, I know most newbies go there because they don't have a training program but do you really think that is such a good idea? CDL schools for the most part teach you just enough to pass your test and prepare you to go with a trainer, no more no less. So unless you already have some kind of trucking background I highly advise you go with a company that is going to properly train you. Especially this time of year! Do you honestly feel comfortable knowing nothing about driving and being thrown into a truck in the snow and ice?
I recommend Central Refrigerated they seem to fit the criteria you are looking for. I do highly recommend you get your wife her license though! You could make some serious money as a husband/wife team at Central!
Leases are targeted toward the new drivers. Once you have any kind of experience you will know that leasing is not the way to go. Whatever you do make sure you have a good year or two behind the wheel before you even consider it! There is very little profit margin in the equation and as an experienced driver you will realize that there are much easier ways to make good money out there.
Got a few newbie questions
