from what i am thinking, this means you will be driving a low boy or low flat bed. you will then get under an "office trailer" and secure it, then deliver it to construction sites, or other sites that need a "temp" office. you of course have to set it up, level it, and when they are done, you go pick it up. be prepared to work around a lot of mud and in winter time, a lot of unplowed areas to make you delivery, set up, and then pick up.
you will most likely be driving a day cab, maybe a very short wheel base as those trailers can be long. if you ever saw a "modular home" being taken down the highway, that'll give you some idea as to what you could be in store for.
at least this is my take on it. -

It will give You job till You find a better one. You'll also get some experience which will help when getting another Job... If it was Me I would take it for the money and experience till I find a better paying job. Plus I bet You'll be in Your own bed in Your own Home every night...

I'd jump on it if it were myself. It will be great experience. You can then move into the heavy haul and specialized areas to make loads more money.
Just remember, it will be HARD work, in all types of weather. -
My first highway job was hauling prefab houses. But they were all "knocked down" and put together like a jigsaw puzzle. Lots of fun.
Mostly with modulars, you'll be working with a crew for setup, etc. The wider stuff doesn't get moved after dark and mostly escorted. So when you do move you don't waste around.... it's go,go,go.
Finn is right, it's a good start for getting into the Heavy Haul/oversized world.BUCKASTY304 Thanks this. -
I wouldn't see why not! Sounds like a fairly decent gig. The only thought that comes to mind though is I don't think they ever go from point A to point B without having a blowout! I actually have heard from a friend that building them is a pretty good job too! Everything is prefab and you build them inside a warehouse. No slinging a hammer in the snow or rain or 110 degree heat!

Something to think about:
You said it doesn't pay that well, Well if you take this job and then decide you want to go OTR you might need to go back to school in order to get hired by a OTR company because You wouldn't have any OTR experience, unless you could find a small carrier willing to hire you.
But my point is, while yes new drivers can sometimes find a local job right out of school, If there looking to make a career out of driving You BETTER off going OTR at first,
Here Why:
1. 20 years of local experience doesn't equal 6 months of OTR experience
2. OTR carriers want either OTR experience OR you to be a RECENT graduate of a driving school
3. LOTS of local jobs require OTR experience as well
Just to make sure everyone is Fully understanding what I'm saying heres an example:
You Live here in Charlotte, NC you just graduated from Truck Driving School and land this local job Your talking about, you drive for them for 5 years, then you have a kid and need more money.......So you see this job in Concord, NC that pays REALLY good for local flatbed work, home every night, off weekends, no holidays, driving nice Peterbilt day cabs.....BUT HERE THE CATCH they require 5-7 years MINIMUM of OTR experience. (THIS IS A REAL JOB HERE IN NC) They WILL NOT consider local experience as OTR. So in this case here you would be SOL for this great job because you didn't go OTR first.
Just get it out of the way, that way your qualified for most local jobs and if you should ever want or need to go back OTR you can walk right into a job without going back to school!
I hope someone will learn from this.....
