The rest stop is in Cumby, Tx. It was full when I pulled in so I parked where I wouldn't block traffic. Woke up to a $200 ticket. Must have been at least 20 of us with tickets.

This is going on my list of places not to park.

$15-$20 for T/S Reserved Parking is not a bad deal after all.

So you are saying the ticket is making it so you don't illegally park there again. I'd say mission accomplished.

Yeah, given the vast number of places to park across the country I can see where a fully legal place to park would be best.

If more states would enforce illegal parking on highway shoulders, rest areas etc. it might eliminate the lazy drivers from being responsible for creating the cluster fxxxx in these areas.

And if they could the police should be able to also ticket the creative bozos that block fuel islands and park wherever they want in truck stops.

Of course the bottom line would be more parking areas either state or private as there surely isn't enough anywhere.

To all you perfect, self-righteous truckers who responded, thank you for your comments. I find it interesting that you took my self admission of making a mistake as an opportunity to act like a Karen your own selves to point out my obvious error, and to assume I'm whining or some other dignified action.

To park in a posted area is a choice millions of drivers make daily because various reasons and reasonably accept the consequences. I just mentioned that this time was an exception to the experiences I've had across the country where the signs are not enforced.

But, I bow to your superiority as indicated by your Road Train status. Again thank you for sharing your "helpful", and understanding wisdom.

Well, I appreciate your honesty, but what were you expecting us to say....you got gypped?
A lot of us are simply fed up with people who won't follow the rules. And this goes to everything from parking to fuel islands. I can't tell you the number of times I had to struggle to get out of a legitimate parking spot because some thoughtless individual decided to park in front of me illegally.
So, sorry for your luck. But I'll bet real money you learned your lesson. If not, you will get taught again.
    Good luck and happy trails.

I'll put my flameproof suit on now, so let 'er rip!!
