As far as the rest area that this thread is about, the city of Cumby is using this to produce revenue. Plain and simple. Truckers safety or any other highway users safety doesn't enter the ticketing cops minds

Are they though? I have zero issue with people being ticketed for parking in a no parking zone. In this pic there are two trucks on the end past where parking stops, now combine that with trucks parked in the curve and how is anyone supposed to get through? You can tell by the oil spots on the concrete just how stupid people get with parking. You can tell they park along the edge. You can tell they park along the back of the trucks. And that would leave a single lane for anyone to get through.

Getting state and federal agencies on-record with unsatisfactory answers to basic questions about responsibility can be quite helpful if dealing with politicians, bureaucrats, and judges (or whatever other officials there may be which don't want to end up facing some sort of accountability).

Don’t drive until you have 15 minutes left on your clock before you start making parking plans. If you’re going into a congested area don’t plan on getting a parking spot at 9pm. Make your original plan but also have about 3 backup plans if your day doesn’t work out like you thought. Look for places that have reserved parking. Stop earlier in the day where you can park legally. There are plenty of options that don’t involve parking in a no parking zone.

In other words, take responsibility for your own actions and behavior. What a concept!

I totally agree with Long FLD. Any driver should be able to plan a trip with a planned parking plan but also a couple of back-up options just in case. If you drive your clock to 10.75 hrs. and find no parking it's too late. Stopping earlier to safely and legally park is a no brainer and if necessary just call ahead and reserve a paid parking spot.

Cumby has come up with a number of interesting revenue-generation schemes over the last few decades. My dad fell victim to one of them.

If you believe it's the government's job to provide for you, you're going to spend your entire life doing without and feeling disappointed.

    I agree
It’s your companies responsibility to provide parking or arrangement’s to pay for it . If they can’t afford it they are hauling too cheap ..
