    With the way people seem to post their entire life as well as every insignificant thought which flows out from between their ears onto facebook/twitter/etc...I doubt many really CARE that anyone with a little know-how can find out anything they want to know about the person. In fact, I'd almost say they are ASKING for it.

    ...then they get upset when their boss fires them for something they posted on facebook or are shocked when the cops show up investigating their participation in some illegal activity they posted up on youtube. Then they start crying about "privacy" rights and free speech.

    Criminals have known about various phones geotagging locations onto the pictures for a long time. Snap a picture in your home of that brand new high dollar big screen TV and top-of-the-line surround sound and post it to facebook. They now know what you've got and where you live. Tweet about how you have great seats for tonight's big game. They now know you won't be home and how long they'll have. People are all too willing to put it all out there...then they scratch their head when they return home from the big game and find their stuff gone.

    If the criminals can do it, so can the government. No tin foil hats required...this isn't some big conspiracy theory. I would much rather be informed as to how it is possible that I could be tracked than to see some accused individual tried in the media for his/her alleged crimes. Heck, if you happen to wreck that truck you're driving and somebody else is involved, you'd better believe that their 1-800-sue-a-trucker lawyer is going to use those EXACT SAME METHODS to track your movements over the past several months to try to find discrepancies in your log book, piecing together bits & pieces of your past to show patterns of careless actions and attitudes, and anything else they can find to use against you and secure the largest possible settlement for their client.

    And just think Facebook can locate a large part of your family and friends on their network. Just think how much easier that would make it to find the info out. And with the phone companies it wouldn't be hard to shut anyone down they determined to be an enemy.

    There was some videos on facebook awhile ago about Facebook about the information gathering, here is one link;

    Just think what the Nazis did without the means we have now. Kinda scary.

    You are right on this info. Not long ago an elderly couple in MI was killed, the community was a gated community and everyone posted what was going on in the neighborhood and being gone, they were even posting info about babysitters available, not a very good idea. They think the murders were due to info posted on facebook.

    There also is someone who has been stealing pictures off some of the sick childrens pages and making new pages using their info to try and gain sympathy for donations and gifts. Mothers are now doing something they call watermarking, ie posting the website such as prayers for Raven, directly on the pictures, that way if it is copied it has the original website info on and can be checked out.

    The police even use facebook to track info down, got one guy trying to pass himself off as someone else and they pulled up the name and saw what he had posted.

    No privacy anymore pretty much. The powers that be will also know what your thoughts and ideas are and who you align yourself with the government or any other agenda they want to monitor.
