To start with, you could post the question in a better forum. I'll move it for you.

(for the record, the member initially put the post in Bad Company. Perhaps that was a Freudian slip and he knew it will turn in to a bad company)

Maybe buying a truck should be next. I hear that makes our job a lot easier.

You should sign up for loadboard and lookup for loads. Whenever you interested in something call the broker and make an arrangements. In the beginning you will need to sign carrier packet (agreement between you, carrier, and broker with all terms and such), then they will send you rate confirmation that you also have to sign and send them back, and drive toward pickup location mentioned in that rate confirmation.

Having authority and insurance is not enough to roll. Make sure you all legal with other important things such as ELD, IRP, IFTA, Drug program, Annual truck/trailer inspection, etc. Some incomplete paperwork may let first officer to fine you (or even put out of service), others may stop you on first audit.

Can anyone recommend an insurance company that works with start ups, and will not try to brake the bank before we get on road. Also any advice is welcome. My friend has cdl and I plan to do the business end and try to recruit drivers and gradually acquire trucks. Trust me, I know it's not gonna be that simple but in a nutshell.

Insurance cost being deal breaker lately. If you live in some small town out of major cities you may be able to find something, otherwise it make not worth it.

Do you have a truck yet? Do you know what DAT is? Do you know what a broker is or does? Do you know what today's date is?
