I had a two dropper for dal-tile, Phoenix and Ontario. Phoenix went through in a flash. I get to Ontario, go into the building, told where to dock and I do so.
They have dock hooks but no wheelchocks. I don't think anything of it and go inside the dock area.
I go in, hand my paperwork to the forklift operator. He drops the dock plate and starts the unload.
After the third pallet the boss guy I talked to when I got there comes out. Looks at me and says. "Did you hook the trailer? "
Notably confused (since when are drivers even allowed to touch those switches? ) I replied "No."
"Did you at least chock the wheels? "
"No sir, you don't have any out there. "
"Why did you let someone in your trailer then?"
He pulls the dock plate up and instructs another employee to activate the dock hook, which as it turns out is a manual one that I honestly had never seen before.
The other guys told me that guy usually never comes back there and they never use that hook under normal circumstances, it's a pain in the ###.
Then to top it off I was at the wrong dock. Right location just wrong dock. They reloaded the three pallets they took off and I drove down to the right one, lol.
Got chewed out yesterday at a customer.

Sounds like another safety nazi boss running scared for his job with a higher up safety nazi breathing down his neck. I just laugh and say ok, occasionally feel sorry for them.

Most places don't really want the driver messing with Dock Locks or Dock Plates.
I've found Manual Dock plates are usually ok.
But I usually don't touch the electric ones.Dinomite and DoneYourWay Thank this. -
Chinatown Thanks this.
