Good luck teaming, and don't be surprised if it's tough to sleep for awhile... watch your teamate's driving skills very closely, and if he makes you nervous trade him in for another one. As you probably know, it only takes one bad accident.

I completed my eight weeks not too long ago. Luckily I team with my husband. We were told to go out at least seven to ten days and then we could request home time but any time at home prolongs completion of the eight weeks. The eight weeks is mandatory in certain states....no way around it from what I have seen/heard.

I guess I just don't understand ... what are you supposed to learn from another trainee? How is that supposed to improve your driving skills. Suppose you get to your destination and neither one of you can get the truck up to the dock ... what then??? Seems like a recipe for disaster. Methinks I've been out here too long, just don't understand the way things are done today ................

You can take your hometime while doing your 8 weeks. They may get you a different teammate when you get back or let you run solo. Depends on if they have other trainees from your area.

2nd reason we have decided against USX they apparently have gone to all automatics.. not a good idea... Think about in a year, if you want to change companies and you can't drive a stick..:biggrin_2554:

Your STUCK finding a company that will give you an auto or at best you had a few weeks training a year ago at school:biggrin_25524:
Hmmm me thinks this is bad juju.. :biggrin_2552:
We will learn the right way just like my dad taught me to drive----> stick ---1st (for at least a year or 2) then maybe an automatic. .

Think about it ..then you can drive anything ...and go anywhere..:biggrin_2558:

From what I heard they expect you to work off each other and help teach each other. Give each other pointers. idk. The only reason I was asking about home time is because my girlfriend wants me to go to a wedding with her and probably meet her dad and family from up there ( Arkansas)

The company is buying automatics but they are not transitioning entirely to auto. They are also buying new 10 speeds because they know some drivers prefer them.

Keep in mind this is a mainly team company so teams get priority over solos on a lot of things. We've always been able to pick out our truck.

I think they said they were planning on going full auto by the end of it.
