I talked with my recruiter today. I got my academy date of May 21st ( that was the soonest my recruiter could get me in) and I'm attending school in Millington, Tn.
Should be a fun time.
So can anyone tell me....after I finish school, and get my CDL, I go to orientation.. what happens if for whatever reason I dont make it thru orientation?
or worse yet, I go out with a mentor, and for whatever reason I dont pass my training phase or my road test to be released on my own?
Do I have to immediately pay back the tuition?
Can i still keep my FL CDL?
Would I be able to get employment with another trucking company or does swift have me blacklisted from employment as a truck driver?
I dont plan on not making it thru orientation... but I do like to plan for any and all contingencies. You never know!
Thanks in advance everyone.. im looking forward to all of this!
Got my academy date....

Well after you finish school, you should know how to drive the truck. Your mentor will take you out and show you the finer things involved in driving out on the road...They understand that you're just out of school and take that into account..Orientation consists of classroom videos and people coming in to talk about the company and stuff...alot of blah blah blah stuff....And once you have a CDL, Swift can't take it away from you but if you really screw up, they can put something in your DAC to prevent you from getting another job....Good luck...it's really not that bad of a company to work for and just get used to running a lot and not getting a lot of hometime...that's where the they lost me....

Southern man better keep your head
Cant worry about not making it. But no unless you do something really bad you will not get blacklisted.
About your CDL
The State and Chuck Norris can take away your Class A FL CDL. Not swift.Last edited: Apr 19, 2012

thank you guys. thats one of those questions I wanted the answer to but i didnt wanna ask my recruiter. Last think I need is my recruiter thinking Im doubting my own abilities... just want to cover my bases.
So as far as the loan, if I screw up and dont work for swift.. do I pay it back the same way? 34.50 a week or whatever? -
I'm sure Swift will work with you to make sure they get their moneys worth...It's in their best interest to train you right.See the bad thing about getting your license with a trucking co. is that they usually require you to work with them for so long b4 it gets paid off..I'm pretty sure they will deduct the amount from you per paycheck for so many months. I got mine at a truck school and therefore pretty much parked my truck and cleaned it out in our drop yrd...no questions asked at all...I wasnt on the hook at all.
