Well I said to myself that I would never get a ticket for anything and you know the old saying.."never say never". I recently got a letter in the mail from the Philadelphia Parking Authority's Red light camera program. Now I'm thinking that I should fight this but when I look at the camera shots they look damning. See, a few weeks ago I was coming to an intersection at JFK Blvd and I saw the light turn yellow....im going approx 25-30mph and by the time i get to intersection it turned red. In my head it was too late to slam on the breaks and stop. Thats when I saw the flashes and had a sinking feeling that I just got myself a ticket for running a red light. :biggrin_25521:

I guess I have two questions forum. First, are these camera violations worth fighting? Since they say a pic is worth a thousand words but does my arguement that it was too late to stop hold weight at a hearing? Second question, does this have a damaging inpact on prospective employers? My range instructor always said that some companies won't even look at you if you have certian moving violations. I've had my drivers licence for about 10 yrs...have never been pulled over for a moving violation, speeding, DUI/DWI's, or anything like that...UNTIL now looks like. Im just worried that this one may bite me in the arse if either I (a.) fight the ticket and lose or (b.) concede and pay the 100.00 ticket. Figures...I get busted by big brother....smh:biggrin_25513:

Yeah, not good. The camera has your mug and co's will think if you can't control a 4 wheeler what will you do with 80000 lbs? Takes to long to stop and too long to clear the intersection when you are 70 + feet long. You have to be able to read stale lights.

Whenever you go thru a "Red lite camera" intersection, and are aware of it, cover your face with a newspaper/ball cap/bare hand. That way, they won't send you a ticket because they can't ID you.

Only problem with that is I cant cover my licence plate with newspaper..lol. But I guess I'll take this as a learning experience since this is the 1st time since driving period. Guess I have no choice but to be more cautious when driving....whether personal car or a rig

Fight every ticket!!! Never fold and pay! Get a lawyer as a lot of these camera tickets can be beaten. Just recently here in Springfield a State Patrol retired officer got one and now we have no cameras that work! He took it to the supreme court and actually won! But NEVER pay a ticket as that is pleading guilty. Yep you'll have to pay a lawyer but who knows it can be reduced.

Fight it!!! In a court of law, you have the right to face & question your accuser! What are they going to do? Take the camera down so you can question it?

"RedLight Video" tickets do not go on your driving record.
They are merely there for revenue generation for the local towns.
They will send the ticket to the registered owners of the vehicles.
To fight it, it is put before a board of 5 officers from that town to review it. Take a guess how that's going to go?

Fighting it can be costly and really is it worth paying a grand or more to fight $100 ticket. Most companies will frown on this but like others have said they rarely show up. If you fight it with the courts all they are going to say is that you were driving too fast. That seems to be the common statement heard from the authorities.
recently a friend of mine got a ticket in Arkansas for the same type of situation. It was during the freak snow and ice they had this year. He was driving 10 mph under the 35mph, entered the intersection on the yellow, but the light turned while he was still crossing. A local pulled him over and gave him a ticket for running a red light, he also put on the ticket that he was carrying hazmat and driving too fast for conditions.
    1. He has hazmat endorsement but the load was not hazmat
    2. His speed was 10 mph lower then limit
    3. he fought it and it was reduced to a non moving violation
He still had to pay the fine and had to pay for a lawyer
