Hmm... I wonder if you could go ahead and accept the $350 FTA, and then get the feds to charge the cop (and his employer) under the RICO act based on the evidence? The evidence seems to point to racketeering rather than pursuit of justice here...

Don't count on it to be 100% accurate all the time, but my rand GPS tells me of upcoming speed limit changes.

One more reason to use all the tools!

I have a rand gps, the 710, as you said it doesn't work all the time. We had a road in a local town here that was notorious for changing the speed limit about once a month. It would be 45 then one day you got through and it's 35 with all 3 local cops hiding in the bushes waiting.

Lol, yeah it is kind of like extortion but you'd never get it to stick. Would make a good episode of law and order.

I believe I would take the 49 in a 45. I wouldn't trust the Failure to Appear. I read all the time about people in our county getting arrested on Failure to Appear. You get pulled over in that state again, they might just lock you up. :biggrin_25524:

I was wondering the same thing but as I lack knowledge about things like that I just went along with the flow.

If a FTA shows on your record does that not open a potential employer to ask more questions as to why you would get/have an FTA and would they not think that if you had an FTA that maybe you lacked responsability.

    Just my questions.

The way the laywer explained it to me, if I plead guilty to FTA they will dismiss the moving violation. Then after pleading guilty to FTA I just pay the fine and it's a class c misdemeanor which does not show on a criminal record check, it's the same class as a parking ticket.

Now if I actually failed to appear to the scheduled hearing they would put a bench warrant on me. But I'm already pleading guilty to it and paying the fine (sent the check today) so no warrant will be issued.

Even if it does show on my record, better to have a class c misdemeanor than a moving violation on your MVR. The lesser of 2 evils.
