With that said; please pay attention, because what I'm about to tell you also comes from the heart and my personnel experience with things.
#1 It isn't what you know a lot of times, its who you know!
(If you meet some people in the industry they may get you hired but, its going to cost them in rates so expect a little lower pay)
#2 Sell yourself locally to some of the driving business like suggested; I recommend you find 10-20 companies to start with. Preserverence is going to be key
#3 You are going to have to rebuild some trust with the trucking industry. Who ever give you a break; someone will. Its just going to be with a short string.
My suggestions is to check on harvesting seasons for the local farmers. Every State has a harvest season. Talk with those farmers and think out the box. ie Hey Ill work for Free for the Trng Period. Offer some concessions to get yourself in if you have too.
Ohh this should have been never one...
#4 NEVER STOP NEVER GIVE UP!
GL out there, and when you get your chance cherish the moment. Treat there Truck like its the last chance you may get. Because if you don't; most likely it will be. The person giving you a chance will be your reference point to bigger and better jobs. Get to know them and make friends with them. There taking a huge chance and/or hit in the pocket.
