I've had my share of shut downs because of jack knifed Fred Wrecks too. But they are usually in the Winter when they continue to drive like its Summer and the high way is not iced over.

I put that all back on FedWrex corporate. They do not allow extra time on loads during bad weather.

Too many late/service failures and the driver looses their contract. Contract stipulations do not allow Drivers to slow down because of weather.

That’s everywhere that operates on a JIT schedule, whether it’s LTL, auto industry, AZN, food ingredients, fuel, wherever.

So long as dumb drivers keep signing up for their program and generating revenue for them, they’ll stay in business.

TheLoadOut, Bumper and bzinger Thank this.

The company's that do this , the not allowing time for bad weather conditions need to change their policy on this. It is simply common sense that one should not be driving the same in good and bad weather. Everything takes more time. Getting in and out of the truck. Everything is going to need more time to be done safely. People in general are not caring enough about other people. That is a sad personal choice. But a company should have no choice and should be forced to make everything as safe as possible for their whole company. Nobody should be pushing humans into danger zones. In this case You , the Drivers that they would have no company if not for you.

ducnut, TheLoadOut and bzinger Thank this.

All most companies care about these days is max production and couldn't give a dam less about the driver or the motoring public .
    It's all about money .
Zero loyalty and I have zero loyalty to the trucking industry these days ...good riddance.

Then they should be made to care. If they don't care on their own. A Driver needs always to put safety first. That begins with his employer. If a company is not operating with safety before everything else, they shouldn't be operating at all. That is just common sense to me.

    bzinger Thanks this.
