i started off in chemical tankers
ate #### for 1 year just to get experience
they gave me an education all right
    28 cpm
screwed me on miles , wash out pay , detention , layover
    you name it
on top of all that the terminal manager was an ###
and gonna f with me constantly on the quallcomm
    so i quit
next job 40 cpm loaded / 30 cpm empty
    company way better
but miles both loaded and empty consistently
40 or 50 miles off in the companies favor
so i have my eyes open
any advice on the way to go ?
    currently doing flatbed
have hazmat / tankers / doubles / triples endorsements
    thanks !

You better quit job-hopping pretty soon is my advice. If you're looking for the "perfect job" (trucking or otherwise) you're in for a never-ending quest.

If your young enough, I would go to a LTL union job and be set for life.

Welcome to trucking surpera1.Tell you right now,as long as you're hauling van, reefer it's not going to get any better no matter where you go.All companies have flaws. Some are far worse then others.I know it is'nt right but it is what it is and companies do not care.Whenever you have to use your money for washout pay, lumpers ect,DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.Just sit there till your dispatcher gives in and pays for it.This may sound cold but if trucking is what you wanna do then you just have to suck it up and stick with one compsny for awhile. But don't use your own money to pay for washouts ect.It could be weeks before you get it back if you even do.I dont use my money for nothing concerning helping a company out. They'll either pay for it or im sitting till they do.

Yeah, about 8-10% off in paid miles (in the companies favor). I can't count the number of times I heard (from dispatch) "it's the computer" ! Explain to me how you can load in Ontario, Ca. and unload in El Paso, Tx. I-10 all the way and the company pays you for 45 LESS miles.

why thank you.I've been doing this since 2003 so I know the games the companies love to play on the drivers. Its getting worse.I don't like to sugar coat when it comes to trucking because the drivers ecspect the truth. You'll hear more of the truth right here on the forum rather then some website thats probably 10 yrs old and recruiters.
