It's called self certification, when you get your new medical card you must self certify with your DMV. $3.50 in Ohio.
homeskillet and Just passing by Thank this. -
I ALWAYS take care of my own paperwork where my license is concerned. If the company also faxes the form to the state, there is no penalty for the state receiving more than one copy. At least that way, I know it is done. Last few times I've been inspected, they don't even ask for the card. Still carry it, as well as the fax confirmation showing the time/day it was faxed to the state. CYA, because nobody else will if you don't.
driverdriver Thanks this. -
Likely you'll have to get ANOTHER physical and email or fax it to a special address with a special notation that it's to correct a past expired physical.
Their web site should address the particulars in a FAQ if you can find the right page. -
This has been the law now for several years. EVERY time you get a new DOT physical you must get the physical certified by the state or you chance (in some states) of losing your CDL. It's your license.. stop blaming the state. If you are not driving you have to go and get a restriction placed on your CDL so you can certify that you are not driving. I have seen this happen several times and every time.. the driver's claim that its someone elses fault.
Pumpkin Oval Head and driverdriver Thank this. -
As others have already stated, you have to go in person to DMV and present new medical for their records. Every time. I usually go from the clinic straight there.
Pumpkin Oval Head, Klleetrucking, driverdriver and 1 other person Thank this. -
Im not blaming anyone, I'm just seeking advice on what to do or hoping another driver been through this and see if there was a fix to it
Drivers are telling me just fax the updated one to the DMV and they'll fix the problem but idk how accurate that isLast edited: May 27, 2017

It depends on the state. Some states will simply strip the driver of the CDL, and others will suspend the CDL until the driver is in compliance. The first means that the driver has to go through the Licensing process again (pay all the fees, written tests, skills tests, pretrip etc).. the other, the driver has to pay the fees and present the DMV a current medical card. Most of the states have changed to the suspensions. I have had to train two drivers already to re-take their CDL skills tests.. They were lucky enough to have worked for a company that would allow them to use their equipment free of charge..

I
am not driving and haven't for the last 7 years, still hold a valid cdl, all you have to do is self certify, you can't drive commercially but your license is still valid. -
Two pages of this crap is the exact reason you should go to YOUR DMV
Bean Jr., driverdriver and fargonaz Thank this.
