The truck would move at all, not even a couple inches? You couldn’t ‘rock back and forth’ to get even a little movement on a city street?

A small tow truck that hauls cars can get you out of a jam. Especially if you just have to go a few feet.

He should at least pay half IMO. If not reconsider working for him.

That's not an employee. If you are 1099 you are responsible for it in my eyes. For one you are wrong in doing so and two so is your person that has you working for them. We have laws that says your cannot do this.

No trust me I tried it was bad. They didn’t clean up that street at all. The tow guy told me I’m the 7th truck he pulled out from that spot that night. Seemed like it was left like that on purpose because the local cop called the wrecker for me. Must have some kinda deal between the city and that company I’m assuming lol

Was it a big city with the "safe clear" junk like Houston used to have? I am not sure if they still do or not but the City of Houston did have contracts initially when the safe clear thing started with only some tow companies, maybe even just one.

    You should be packing chains.

If you were really smart. You'd be packing salt, window washer fluid -50* stuff. Or anything that will help melt ice.

It's the owners responsibility to supply you with chains. The rest is on you and $600 would buy you alot.

And if you're really smart. You don't stop at lights. You slow down before the light and keep your momentum going at a crawl waiting for the light to turn green.

a pair of singles often makes a huge difference, I’ve got in the habit of throwing them on before it snows once I pull in the yard because it’s easier then cleaning an excavator off to pull me up the hill
