Got the call from Con-Way Truckload

Yesterday I got the call I had been waiting weeks for. Even before I started school, Con-Way was my first choice, but I was told by the school director that they "didn't hire drivers from our school". I was a little disappointed, but figured I would apply anyway, worst they could say was no, or just not call.

So after speaking with her, and her answering all the questions I had, and her answers falling right in line with what another truckload driver has said, I am excited again. Now, I just have to make sure the wife is okay with me being gone for an extra week at a time, possibly longer.

Ultimately I'm looking to start here, then transfer to the LTL side after some time behind the wheel. One other user asked about transferring to that division, according to the recruiter I spoke with, yes you can transfer to the LTL side as long as there is an opening and you qualify for it. If the job requirements are 1year OTR, then as long as you have that year you're eligible she says.

So, hopefully the wife is okay with this, after all it is to better our future and our kids futures.

 

Thank you all, I'll keep updating this as things progress. As it stands now, due to holidays and driving instructors needing time off, my 11 drives for school are going to push into January. So hopefully I won't cut it too close to the 30 day limit they impose after graduation.
