Recruiter called me today and said she had an opening come up for orientation on the 13th instead of the 20th so I`m off in a week. Pretty glad too...been out of a truck for almost a month and a half and itching to get back out on the road. Doing orientation in Columbus, OH since I`m in Cleveland and should only be with a "mentor" for about 2 weeks since I already have a few month experience. Hopefully this will be better than my last company but from what I`ve read it should be...I`ll have a little more freedom on the road and atleast know where I`m going for a few stops ahead of time, unlike the "get to a stop-unload-send an empty message- then find out where I`m going next" routine. And the truck amenities sound alot better too. We`ll see how it pans out but I`m gonna atleast do a year just to get out of the "training" phase I`m still in. Anybody got some advice on the Columbus terminal and how it all goes would be greatly appreciated so to prepare me as best as possible.
Got the word today...heading to Swift

Orientation has got to be the most boring time Ive ever spent. Just finished up today here in Lancaster, sat around all afternoon waiting for driver codes, only 6 out of 40 came thru by 4pm, so here we all sit in the motel again, report back about 10 am tomorrow.
I got a feeling myself and several others will be sent home after that, dont see how they can come up with that many mentors by then lol. Good luck with yours, let us know how it goes....BigT -
Good Luck with Swift. I am a wannabe newbie and I am considering Swift. Does anyone know how the Swift training is and what is the expected starting pay range and pay terms? I live in Greensboro NC we have Crete and Averitt terminals here... looking to start with a good company that is near Greensboro. I know the closest Swift terminal is Richmond. Thanks

Call them! Call Swift and Crete! See what schools near you they hire out of. Crete is picky.

Well atleast this orientation will only be 2 days...hopefully. Last company I was at it was a whole week....of nothing.....we barely even watched any movies lol, just kinda sat there and bs`ed with each other. Either way though I`m looking forward to it. I miss the open roads and it`s been a month and a half since I`ve been out there.
