CDLLife.com "One of our readers, Jerry, fell off of a 12 foot tall loaded flatbed trailer yesterday in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the T/A. He shattered his right elbow, his wrist, and broke his lower arm in two places.
The manager sent his bookkeeper to Jerry's hospital room to get his keys, and came back with a change of clothes, cell phone charger, and an expenses-paid flight 1200 miles home!
Jerry commented that his, " career as a driver is over, but T/A manager, James Mills is a saint! I've not had a better friend in my life!"
- We hope Jerry has a speedy recovery, and we're so grateful for caring people like James Mills!"
Got this off of CDLLife.com say what you will about T/A but this speaks volumes.

The one to be thankful for is James Miller not TA.
But it could be it doesn't matter how you hurt yourself. When you hurt yourself on someone else's property they are open for a lawsuit. James just saved a bunch of money. Meanwhile the truck will be towed or charged storage fees for $3000.
truckon, chalupa, pattyj and 1 other person Thank this. -
My thoughts exactly.
-
Yeah they didn't do that to be nice, they did it to mitigate the coming potential lawsuit. Plus it's great PR.
-
Most likely it would have been minimal or equal to the amount they provided through goodwill.
It is not the truck stop liability that he was on the trailer and not properly secured.Snowshoes and Blind Driver Thank this. -
maybe they're just nice people......that could happen too, ya know
Logan76, dannythetrucker, 123456 and 7 others Thank this. -
Exactly. Next the T/A will be responsible for truck accidents in the parking lot.Ed G Thanks this.

I wish for Jerry to get well real soon.James may or may not be a saint. He might be worried about a getting sued in the not too distant future,
-
Why?
Was it the fault of the truckstop? -
I really doubt the truck stop owner/manager was worried about a "law suit" at the time. Have we really reached a point where nobody can be credited for doing the right thing, just because it's the right thing to do? Why is it anyone in an upper management or ownership position is always presumed to be guilty until proven innocent? Good grief, people get a grip.
Suptrkr, runningman0661, Boy Howdey and 8 others Thank this.
